This position reports to

China Business Line leader ELSB

Your role and responsibilities

• Developing the business line R&D for medium- and long-term strategies, derives consistent business strategies and targets and implements them in local organization • Managing and developing resources and competencies together with other R&D managers plus defining local development focus areas (core competencies) • Ensuring appropriate legal contracts and policies for IP, NDAs, tax regulations etc. are consistent with the local law, ABB guidelines • Serving as the key technical entry point and high-level discussion partner for the global R&D management regarding technologies addressed by the local business line R&D organization • Drives and fosters a culture of innovation within the department. Develops capability in their own organization to ensure employees can challenge the status quo regarding technical issues, projects, tools, and/or processes. • Builds, develops, and maintains trust-based relationships with internal external key stakeholders. • Inspires, guides, motivates, and develops direct and indirect reports within HR policies. • Builds effective, competent, and high-performing teams.

Qualifications for the role

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics
• 15+ years of proven track record in leading technical and managerial R&D positions
• Broad technical knowledge of the relevant technologies for Energy distribution and home automation
• Good knowledge over IP strategy, risk management, quality assurance, project management and competence and process improvement processes, tools and methods
• Good overall understanding of the product development related processes and manufacturing technologies and basic financial knowledge
• Possess a good understanding of macroeconomic trends and opportunities in relation to the R&D function.
• Strategic thinker and strong customer focused
• Inspiring and inclusive leadership and demonstrated good record of building and managing effective teams
• One-level-up thinking & Collaboration, proven ability to work collaboratively across different businesses and teams, providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring.
