Mining Engineer II is responsible for Ore Control, coordination of blast hole sampling, ore/waste split designations in the field, tonnage/grade correlation monitoring, dispatch tonnage checks, and mine engineering material accounting. Short-range mine planning. The role requires the creation and maintenance of a rolling three-week mine plan including production forecasts and adherence to the previous weekly plans and budget. The position also includes some shared responsibility for the analysis of haulage profiles, dump plans, and special budgetary projects. In addition, he assists the Senior Mine Engineers (Planning) in the preparation of short-range plans and other miscellaneous engineering projects.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform daily Ore Control function as required. Ore/waste delineation: Determine material designation from blast hole assays and geology.
- Mine progress: Track mining progress on a day-to-day basis, creating a daily record of material mined.
- Mine material accounting: Prepare daily and monthly mine reports which track sulfide and silicate ore, leach material, and waste.
- Dispatch checks: Check daily dispatch load records and make any needed corrections.
- Short term mine planning: elaborate 3 weeks mine and leach/dump plan. That includes stockpile tracking and planning.
- Special projects: Plan and follow through with special engineering projects as needed.
- Complete monthly reconciliation of adherence to the previous months' plans.
- Develop and maintain engineering production information.
- Develop concepts and strategic plans for implementing company-wide "best practices".
- Keep stakeholders apprised of project status with regular project status reporting
- Manage risks and communicate issues to the rest of the organization.
- Develop and maintain a close working relationship with the Geology, Hydrology, Technical Services, Drilling and Blasting Engineers, and the Maintenance departments.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent safety record required
- Ability to work well as a team member and demonstrate safety leadership required.
- Knowledge of MSHA and State, Environmental, and Safety regulations is beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal skills in developing consensus-building.
- Must be able to manage time effectively and set priorities.
- Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Demonstrated capacity to execute and hold self, as well as others, accountable for results required.
- Must have computer skills with MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, AutoCAD, MineSight, Modular Mining Dispatch.
- Shift regular schedule as required for month-end closing
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor's degree in mining engineering or related field.
- Minimum two years' experience in an open pit mine environment.
