Overview:

The Principal Engineer - Piping Materials will be responsible for overseeing piping material engineering activities for Offshore Oil & Gas Fixed Platform projects for Qatar Energy.

This role focuses on ensuring the selection, specification, and coordination of piping materials to meet project requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop piping material specifications and standards based on project requirements and industry best practices.
• Conduct technical bid evaluations and review vendor documents related to piping materials, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
• Coordinate with vendors to clarify technical requirements, resolve issues, and ensure timely delivery of piping materials.
• Provide technical expertise and support to project teams on piping material selection, corrosion prevention, and material performance analysis.
• Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to optimize material procurement strategies and support material management activities.
• Conduct periodic inspections and audits of piping materials to ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications.
• Participate in project meetings and provide technical guidance on piping material engineering matters.

Education:

• Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical, or relevant discipline).

Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills:

• Certification or specialization in Piping Material Engineering is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for data analysis and documentation.

Experience:

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in piping material engineering, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry.

Technical Knowledge:

1. Proven knowledge and experience in piping specification creation, technical bid evaluation, vendor document review, and vendor coordination.
2. Experience with Oil & Gas and/or Offshore Fixed Platform projects, with familiarity with Gulf clients such as Saudi Aramco, ADNOC, or Qatar Energy preferred.
3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word for data analysis and documentation purposes. Experience with SPMAT (Smart Plant Material) is preferred but not essential.
