The GE Aerospace Take2Flight: Experienced Career Relaunch Program is for seasoned engineering professionals eager to return to work after a career hiatus of one year or longer. This unique program offers a supportive bridge back to full-time technical roles, providing structured support and training during the initial 12-week period. Program participants start in small cohorts who meet regularly for knowledge sharing, mutual support, and mentoring.

Job Description

As an Engineer within the Avionics Engineering team, you will spearhead efforts around avionics product development, analysis and/or project management.

This role grants you the autonomy to lead activities within your discipline, guided by established functional practices and procedures. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners and utilize your expertise to execute the design, analysis, and/or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

Take2Flight Program Career Relaunchers are aligned to engineering roles that capitalize on the person's previous experiences.

Essential responsibilities include:
  • Plan and execute engineering tasks with an unwavering commitment to safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).
  • Apply technical judgment and analytical skills to support the design and development of avionics systems, including hardware and software components.
  • Gain insights into industry best practices and competitive differentiation.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and fostering a culture of open communication and timely feedback.
  • Document processes, procedures, and findings, contributing to technical and program reviews.
  • Build knowledge of best practices and how the system integrates with other areas; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
  • Execute the design, analysis, evaluation, test and/or integration of avionics systems, including hardware and software components, using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and requirements.
  • Incorporate LEAN principles into your standard work.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited university or college
  • At least 5 additional years of experience in an engineering design position
  • At least 1 year or more of a professional career break

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
