Summary:
The Regional Generator Service Technician (RGST) is responsible for the maintenance, repair, inspection, and installation of electrical, mechanical and instrumentation equipment on all Auxiliary Power units which supply emergency power to production and distribution facilities. Distribution systems include, but are not limited to, tanks or water storage facilities, SCADA systems, and automatic control valves. Production systems include, but are not limited to, water treatment plants (potable and wastewater), pumping stations (well and booster), and SCADA systems. The RGST may be required to work outside of the home district, including overnight stays. This position will have responsibility for the districts in a geographic region. This is located in Stockton, CA.

Summary:

The RGST may be required to work outside of the home district, including overnight stays. This position will have responsibility for the districts in a geographic region. This is located in Stockton, CA.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance tasks on gensets and auxiliary power units, portable booster pumps, and portable generators.
- Plan and execute the annual preventive maintenance service as per NFPA 110; Collect engine fluid samples, send to the lab, and file results in our CMMS.
- Load-test the gensets and document findings. Inspect Transfer switches, generators, and engines, collect data, and enter in our CMMS.
- Schedule and perform repairs as needed throughout the year.
- Troubleshoot and repair engines, generators, and transfer switches as needed.
- Make use of laptop, software, and other instrumentation to troubleshoot the gensets or portable booster pumps.
- Limited participation in capital projects which include pre-construction meetings, job walks, inspections according to engineering specifications, NFPA and NEC, Genset equipment installation, system start-up and de-bugging of genset system, collaborate with installer and apply standards to the installation of new gensets.
- Communicate with district management and supervisor via email, radio, or phone to coordinate activities with EMTs, contractors, and local management.
- As necessary, research and procure parts for gensets and related asset repairs; investigate replacement parts for discontinued and legacy items.
- Using CMMS (Maximo), record all work order activities and job tasks including labor hours, accounting details and work performed comments on a daily basis.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must possess a High School diploma.
- Valid California Class C Driver's license.
- Three years as a master Diesel Technician training or one year of training and an EGSA (Electrical Generating Systems Association) certification.
- California Department of Drinking Water Distribution Operator II is required within 12 months.
- Effectively communicate with their supervisor, co-workers, and the public.
- Troubleshoot and repair generators up to 480 VAC/ 320KW.
- Understand the different designs of internal combustion engines, diesel technology, magnetic induction, generator components, and theory of generation.
- Understanding of AC power factor, reactance, apparent power, real power, and harmonics.
- Understanding of lubrication systems and their application, exhaust devices, and purpose of their components
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, electrical schematics, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Write maintenance reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
- Diesel engine software skills,
- Strong background in troubleshooting electrical generators, transfer switches, and diesel engines.
- An EGSA certification is desirable but not required.
