What are you going to do

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hydraulic modeling for water systems including pipelines, borefields, pump stations, ponds, and tanks.
  • Prepare comprehensive work packages with construction drawings, quantity estimates, and scope definition while liaising with key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate project design reviews, field inspections, and ensure compliance with basis of design criteria.
  • Develop final engineering deliverables, such as pipeline schematics, GA's, P&ID's, and select critical equipment.
  • Provide input into capital estimates and perform quantity calculations.
  • Coordinate operational readiness requirements to support seamless project execution.
  • Monitor schedule compliance, escalating potential schedule risks as needed.
  • Offer construction support, handling Technical Queries (TQs) and updating design documentation.
  • Produce equipment data sheets and assess vendor proposals for budget and technical compliance.
  • Ensure designs meet statutory regulations, project standards, and industry best practices.
  • Communicate design progress, changes, risks, and issues with clarity and timeliness.
  • Collaborate and exchange information with other project disciplines effectively.


Essential skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), or Chemical or Civil Engineering, recognized by Engineers Australia.
  • At least 3 years of experience in piping systems and pipeline design, preferably within mining or engineering consultancy.
  • Previous mine dewatering experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Australian and international standards and regulatory requirements in mining and water industries.
  • Ability to travel to site as required (short trips for scoping and stakeholder engagement).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage timelines, and meet budget targets.
  • Proficiency in software such as Visio and ArcMap (preferred).
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and an innovative approach to engineering challenges.
  • Full work rights in Australia are required ( Candidates that do not hold full work rights will not be considered for this role )
