EngineeringAre you an experienced generator technician or combined heat and power (CHP) technician looking to move into the water industry? If so, we have a great opportunity for you to join our friendly and supportive team. You'll help look after our fleet of on-site standby generators, as well as a fleet of spark ignition biogas and CHP generators, helping us maintain the highest standards for customers.
What you'll do
The successful candidate will join our renewable energy team, carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive work. The candidate will be required to take responsibility for ensuring the effective operation of plant and equipment, carry out fault finding, fault diagnosis and fault resolution as necessary, as well as reviewing failed plant and giving reasons for the failure.
This is a hands-on role which will see you joining a dedicated generator maintenance team, you will be required to use your experience and expertise in decision making and suggesting improvements to underperforming plant.
All candidates should have the relevant City and Guilds and/or mechanical qualifications, or a qualification from a time-served apprenticeship. Electrical training (dual skilled) is also preferred, as well as having excellent health and safety awareness. IT literacy is also essential.

What you'll need
- Time served as Mechanical/Electrical engineer or qualified to NVQ level 3.
- Previous experience in similar generator services companies or within the power generation industry.
- Be able to understand and complete risk assessments.
- Experience of working effectively as part of a team as well as independently.
- Ability to solve problems with a positive attitude.
- Self-motivated and able to learn quickly with a strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
- Willingness to undertake further training as required for professional development.
- Good communication skills.
