Energy Engineer I
The Energy Engineer I position supports the energy and sustainability team in performing energy audits, facility assessments, existing building commissioning, and building systems computer modeling and analysis.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Perform energy engineering including performing onsite energy audits, energy benchmarking, data input, energy modeling, energy, utility, water rate analysis, evaluation of energy and water conservation measures
  • Perform existing and ongoing building commissioning consisting of:
    • Participates in data gathering and trend data analysis.
    • Participates in construction site observations
    • Assists with preparing and implementing functional test procedures for mechanical/electrical systems operations.
    • Assists with progress and other technical report writing
  • Assists with creating asset databases for new construction and existing building projects
  • May perform preliminary design reviews of mechanical or electrical systems supporting HVAC, central plant and building automation systems, and fire safety
  • May participate in developing project estimates
Education:
  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
Experience:
  • 1 to 3 years work experience in mechanical engineer, energy engineering or MEP design.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Proficient in computer skills utilizing current Windows operating systems and software.
  • Experience with spreadsheets, data entry, formulas, and data manipulation.
  • Ability to quickly learn modeling software.
  • Proficient speaking and writing skills for report writing and presentation to clients.
  • Proven track record of solving complex problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle large data sets and relational databases.
  • Construction Experience including industry trends, terminology, and typical processes is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal, communication (written, verbal and visual), and analytical skills are needed.
  • A drive to do what it takes to get the job done, including taking on different roles and responsibilities and adapting to changing environments.
  • Strategic thinking and effective problem-solving skills. Keeps "One Company" focus.
  • Be a good team player, as job information will come from a variety of sources.
  • Time management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt effectively to changing priorities and deliver results.

Physical and/or travel demands:
  • Work will be done primarily within the office environment but will require jobsite visits less than 50% of the time.
  • Project needs may require travel or temporary assignment.
  • Physical demands include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, and lifting. Positions include sitting and standing, use of telephone, keyboard, and computer monitor.

Benefits and Compensation:
  • The range for this position has been established at $69,000 to $98,000 per year and is U.S. Engineering's good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
  • Your total compensation will go beyond the number on your paycheck. Team members are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance as well as paid time off. An industry-leading benefits package including health, dental, and vision plans, matching retirement contributions, and matching 529 contributions all add to your bottom line.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
