JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position is for a mid-career Engineer that will work in the Intervention Group at our Air Center Technology & Training Facility. This role will primarily focus on Thru Tubing Tools, but may also require some collaboration with the Fishing Tools group as well. This role requires some background in downhole tools with a strong emphasis on product development, stress analysis, lab testing, and field testing. With regards to product support it will include creating new designs, making modifications to existing designs, and being technical support for existing designs in our production and operation facilities. This candidate will be a trusted team member of the NOV Design Team that has previous applicable downhole tool engineering design experience.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop new technology
• Assist with the shop assembly and testing of tools as required
• Complete modifications to existing Designs
• Implement the use of FEA/CFD software for analysis where appropriate
• Communicate as needed, at a high level of understanding, with the corporate FEA/CFD team
• Perform engineering calculations related to a specific design or analytical projects.
• Complete assignments received from supervisor using established design tools and procedures.
• Develop accurate and complete documentation of data and projects in a timely manner.
• Create and disseminate technical manuals, quality alerts, and presentations.
• Create complete detailed drawing packages utilizing accepted GD&T standards.
• Always demonstrate sound engineering decision making.
• Complete Engineering Change Orders when required following prescribed NOV procedures.
• Manage projects using NOV's structured Engineering Management System.
• Collaborate with all downhole groups to manage projects from concept through completion.
• Work well with other team members and groups.
• Must be willing to occasionally travel as required.
• Must have a commitment to HSE and risk management in everything that they do.
• All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
• Minimum 10 years of applicable experience in the design of mechanical components/systems
• Minimum 10 - 15 years of Downhole tool experience preferred
• Thru tubing tools, MHAs, CT motors, ERT tools and general fishing/remedial tool knowledge is a plus
