Job Type: 1-Year Contract – Renewable
Per Diem: $150 - per calendar day
Schedule: Full-time, 5/50 (potential Saturdays)
SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The Environmental Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring environmental management and compliance on an active LNG construction site. This role requires collaboration with the Construction team to deliver quality environmental outcomes and adhere to regulatory standards.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Experience
• At least 5 years of related experience.
• Strong knowledge of stormwater, SPCC, and waste.
• Experience with compliance management systems for tracking and trending compliance tasks and commitments.
• Preferred experience on FERC-regulated projects and with TCEQ.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Environmental Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to environmental compliance at the project site, including:
• Implementing programs and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Conducting site inspections by walking construction sites to observe stormwater BMPs and the implementation of approved Erosion and Sedimentation Control plans and permit requirements.
• Inspecting environmental performance and addressing potential violations or concerns.
• Completing and organizing written reports documenting observations and action items.
• Communicating observations to project personnel to expedite response plans for concerns or needs.
• Maintaining and tracking compliance obligations.
• Developing and delivering environmental training for site staff.
• Educating staff on permit requirements.
• Preparing and submitting required environmental reports to regulatory agencies promptly and accurately.
• Working with various contractors to ensure environmental compliance.
• Auditing project plans and requirements (e.g., stormwater, SPCC, waste, air).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Windows.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to collaborate with Construction, Craft, and Engineering teams.
• Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state requirements for LNG terminals. Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, or Environmental, Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
