Job Profile

The Examination Consent Lead is a critical delivery role for a 12-month period, working with the wider team throughout the DCO Examination and determination phases.
This role will work closely with the Strategic Consent Lead and will focus on a range of EIA topics. Candidates with experience in DCO Examinations, linear development, and/or renewable energy are preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a range of onshore and offshore elements of the DCO application through the Examination.
  • Oversee the deliverables of consultants in the responsible areas.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement in relevant EIA topics.
  • Ensure strong cooperation across the project team regarding consenting risk and deliverables, including legal, stakeholder, and engineering considerations.
  • Maintain close coordination with internal leads, advisors, land, and commercial teams to ensure continuity of approach across interfaces between EIA topics.
  • Identify and communicate consenting and wider risks as they become known to the Strategic Consent Lead and Workstream Consenting Manager, in order to de-risk the process.
  • Support upcoming Ground Investigation Survey works from a consenting perspective, including risk management and advice to the engineering workstream.

Key Tasks
  • Deliver Examination Strategy, Statements of Common Ground, as well as written and oral answers to the Examining Authority for relevant topics.
  • Contribute to securing a buildable consent for both offshore and onshore elements, on time and to budget.
  • Input to and influence examination strategy in relevant EIA areas to minimise risk in line with project expectations.
  • Manage consenting risk through clear and proactive communication with the Strategic Consents Manager and wider team to prevent issues and highlight potential risks.
  • Lead external stakeholder engagement in relevant EIA topic areas, managing consultants to deliver effective engagement and final Statements of Common Ground.
  • Provide expert advice on consent and environmental issues to support delivery.
  • Support land access requirements for survey works and landowner liaison.
