The Facilities Operations Supervisor - Grounds - Aerospace Research will manage the work of hourly employees and mange activities for contracted services. This role will include direction of Union Hourly trades including but not limited to: Grounds Crew, Auto Mechanic, Crane/Elevator Repair, Locksmiths, Welder & Millwrights. Contracted services can include Refuse, Recycling, Landscaping, Industrial Equipment Manufacturers, etc. This role requires making business critical decisions in a timely manner and meet safety, quality, and delivery metrics within the Organization.

The base pay range for this position is $93,800 - $156,400 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on July 28, 2025.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Direct the activities of an hourly team within the Facilities Organization
- Develop, coordinate, lead and execute daily plans based on site priorities
- Prioritize workload, establish and meet aggressive timelines for project completion.
- Ownership of Snow Crew - after hours scheduling & supervision of snow crew
- Supervise onsite facility maintenance such as: onsite & offsite grounds (underground utilities), landscaping, utility repairs, outbuilding ownership
- Regularly inspects the assigned buildings, grounds, and vacant units for repairs
- Coordinates and/or supervises contractors and vendors to complete repairs
- Completes reports that includes property information such as traffic, occupancy, work orders, vacancy days, capital improvement, property walk through/inspections
- Work with Projects and Engineering teams to develop and execute plans to drivestep change advancements in completing facility & operations workorders
- Be responsible for setting clear expectations for the team and driving accountability.
- Provide customers with regular communications including progress updates and issue resolution.
- Manage the team of hourly employees to meet EHS, quality and productivity goals.
- Coordinate communications between EHS, engineering, and customers to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal codes and requirements.
- Coordinate all matters regarding administration of hourly union contract including but not limited to work assignments, attendance, personnel matters, grievance resolution, contract interpretation, etc.
- Schedule and conduct required safety meetings.

- Embrace and drive a lean culture, leveraging kaizen processes to drive continuous improvement inclusive of the skills and capabilities of the team.
- Utilize LEAN methodologies to improve customer service by delivering cost effective solutions to meet client expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical, construction or engineering field with minimum 5 years of experience in grounds, including proven ability to scope, estimate and oversee the construction of projects.
OR
- Associate degree in a technical, construction, grounds or engineering field with 7 years of experience in grounds maintenance, facilities operations, or maintenance.
OR
- High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 years of prior experience in facilities, grounds operations, or maintenance.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership with direct supervisory experience of hourly workforce in a construction or manufacturing environment (or GE Leadership Program Graduate in lieu of experience)
- Industrial construction or maintenance experience, strong and broad knowledge of cost estimating for maintenance and construction projects.
- Ability and willingness to handle emergencies outside of normal working hours.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office including MS Project or other Project Management Software.
- Experience communicating effectively, both oral and written, among an hourly workforce.
- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure, with a sense of urgency, to meet deadlines.
- Ability to build and influence strong networks internally and externally, and work in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment.
- Must be willing to work on site at our facility in Niskayuna, New York.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
Desired Characteristics
- Technical expertise in an engineering discipline.
- Experience working in a unionized environment and adhering to a collective bargaining agreement.
- Knowledge of NYS building codes, NFPA and 70E Arc.
- Maximo experience
- PMP certification
- Able to adapt to constantly changing work assignments and fast paced work environment.
- Lean / Six Sigma background and certification
