Job Description

This position is requested to identify a candidate for Manager of the Axiom/KBR team primarily in support of the Axiom EVA program. The selected candidate will report directly to the Deputy Program Manager and will manage soft good production technicians to ensure production is running smoothly. The candidate will also be responsible for the following areas of the

Program:
  • Technician Management and Leadership
  • Interfacing with engineers and component owners to build, assemble or procure AxEMU subsystems or other non-standard projects including breathing air systems, ground support equipment or public affairs/marketing equipment
  • Integrated Management support across all other functional areas (i.e., logistics, quality, and production, etc.

The position's responsibilities include leading approximately 20+ employees from the soft goods processes within the organization, coordinating resource prioritization and allocation within the department, and ensuring that the team's responsibilities are completed on schedule. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for handling management administrative tasks such as performance rating, merit planning, career development, technical and leadership training, disciplinary actions, etc., and other duties as assigned.

Candidate must be highly organized, work well in pressured situations with diplomacy, possess the ability to manage multiple projects, in a multi-contract environment. The candidate must have experience with leading complex systems projects, integrating with other organizations such as Logistics, Production, Safety, Quality & Mission Assurance, Maintenance and Operations, and interacting and meeting the needs of the customer. The candidate should be familiar with standard integrated engineering processes and their application to development, manufacturing, modification, sustainment, and process control. The selected individual will perform other related duties and assignments as required. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.

Oversee the planning and delivery of products based on complex technical requirements, engineering specifications/standards, aggressive schedules, and critical milestones. Applies the appropriate technical experience, judgement, objectivity, technical and quality standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system's life cycle.

Required skills
  • Technical management experience
  • Soft goods materials and sewing processes
  • Knowledge of inventory management processes
  • Knowledge of engineering standards and specifications, as well as engineering drawing standards, and specifications
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as the ability to operate with situational awareness, and to be diplomatic in critical situations
  • The ability to demonstrate leadership experience on projects, technical and otherwise
  • The ability to demonstrate project monitoring and control experience
  • The ability to interact across organizations and all levels of personnel
  • Candidate must be effective at handling multiple tasks, flexible, and have the ability to responds quickly to changes, as well as the ability to manage manpower, priorities and customer requirements
  • Candidate must have the ability to tactfully handle customer(s) (internal and external), as well as personnel issues
  • Candidate must be able to handle/control sensitive data (personnel, company, etc.)

Desired skills
  • Familiarity with Axiom AxEMU soft good production process
  • Familiarity with Axiom QA and procurement systems

Qualifications

Qualifications of preferred 5 years of related experience.

Successful candidates must be able to apply for and successfully receive and maintain security clearance per eligibility requirements.

WORK LOCATION

Webster, TX

This position is located onsite at the customer facility.
