Context & Environment

TotalEnergies Gas & Power Trading (TGP) and its affiliates are expanding and developing quickly in support of the company's transition to power. Most notably, the acquisition of a range of energy assets, from renewable sources such as wind and solar, to batteries and CCGT's. For trading this implies significant growth in trading volumes, a larger geographical footprint, and an urgency for process automation, which has many implications for IT. The business analyst will be integrated into the Front Office Tools and Trade monitoring feature team, with the primary goal of assisting traders and trading support functions in Houston in their day-to-day operations, addressing any issues they may encounter, investigate on resolutions and liaise with IT teams to deliver solutions.

Activities

Business Analysis & Solutions Design
  • Serve as a liaison between IT and the business to understand priorities and proactively recommend value-added solutions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and validate business and functional requirements in alignment with Trading IT strategy and system landscape
  • Partner with developers and application engineers to design and deliver effective solutions
  • Develop and execute test plans ensuring alignment with user requirements, business needs, and IT governance standards
  • Coordinate closely with Business Analysts and Trading IT teams for seamless integration and support
  • Support delivery team planning by contributing to the product roadmap and resource allocation

Service Delivery & Support
  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of project plans and change initiatives
  • Act as the main contact for the business regarding service delivery and IT solution engagement
  • Manage and prioritize a backlog of change requests, facilitating timely delivery
  • Provide end-user support and help resolve technical issues and incidents

DIMENSIONS

In this role, you will be expected to support the business in day to day system support and in the drafting of business/functional requirements for used by development teams and third-party system providers. You will identify and implement system solutions for business needs. You will create quality documentation and knowledge transfer learnings with the wider team as well as contributing to testing and quality assurance processes. You will also assist in projects related to trading applications.

PURPOSES

Act as an interface between the business/users and software engineering teams or third-party system providers, define requirements and contribute to the delivery of solutions for, and together with, the business. Ensure the quality of deliveries and that business expectations are realized and provide general support to the business.

Candidate Profile

Education / Experience
  • 2-5 years of work experience in a utility or a commodity trading environment, preferably with knowledge of the energy markets
  • Educated to degree level in an IT, technology or engineering discipline
  • Knowledge of front to back system flows and trade lifecycles including understanding of different physical and derivatives instruments and their respective risks and P&L measures
  • Experience supporting the onboarding/modelling/integration of different power asset types (CCGTs, PV, BESS) highly desired

Skills
  • Strong interest in IT and technology, and experience of software engineering and application management
  • Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously and to work under pressure, good communication and organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Experience of Project Management, DevOps and Agile delivery methodologies, and requirements engineering is desirable
  • Fluent in English; competency in French is advantageous
