Under the direction of the Supervising Mineral Resources Engineer, the Senior Mineral Resources Engineer plans, organizes, directs, and supervises the work of an engineering and inspection staff who monitor production and drilling operations; perform safety and compliance analyses and inspections to ensure the safe and pollution-free operation of state lease oil and gas facilities; and accurate measurement of hydrocarbon production volumes for royalty allocation purposes. The incumbent will perform specialized reviews of safety analyses, facility and system design, and regulation and industry code compliance; assessments of the maintenance condition and functional integrity of offshore and onshore petroleum production, drilling, and processing facilities; inspections of Lease Automatic Custody Transfer (LACT) meters and other measuring devices to ensure their accuracy and reliability; and evaluates staff performance and provides training.

Working Conditions

• Necessary to work outside of core business hours as workload requires or when unforeseen events occur.

• Occasionally work under pressure to meet deadlines.

• Use of a personal or State vehicle to travel on official State business; must have valid CA driver's license.

• Travel on-road and off-road is required.

• Work in a high-rise building, where parking is not available onsite.

• Must be able to pass swing rope test and be certified.

• May involve working in the field for several days as work alternates between field locations and the office.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Master's degree or PhD in mining, petroleum engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Previous supervisory experience.

Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.

• Knowledge of State regulations relating to oil and gas production and drilling operations, pollution prevention, and
production sales measurement.

• Demonstrates punctuality, dependability, and reliability.
• Ability to work well under pressure, respond to inquiries in short time frames, and analyze situations accurately and
adopt an effective course of action.
• This position is eligible for remote-centered telework.
