The Shell Scotford Refinery team is seeking a Senior Turnaround Event Manager to lead highly complex turnaround (TA) activities safely and efficiently in accordance with applicable guidelines and approved work processes. This key team member works alongside 3 other Turnaround Event Managers and partners with them and other stakeholders to align resources and execution strategies.

Accountabilities:
  • Accountable for the preparation of mega turnaround events, up to 1,500,000 direct field labor hours, and co-lead Mega complexity event execution; this includes all deliverables across all phases of turnaround events
  • Drive alignment on the consistent applications of \\turnaround processes and procedures
  • Support the turnaround work scope collection process and contribute to the scope challenge and selection process driving towards optimized scope to deliver against premise
  • Coordinate the integration of all project scopes, including capital projects and catalyst changes
  • Engage with various teams including the Cost & Estimating Team to develop cost estimates for work scope challenge, and bottoms up detailed estimates for input to financial investment decisions and investment proposals
  • Develop all investment proposals associated with turnaround events, taking responsibility for all aspects of spending and financial closure
  • Identify and lead opportunities to reduce turnaround scope, planning and executing with a cost-effective mindset, all while ensuring no risk to the overall duration
  • Collaborate with production counterparts to ensure proper integration
  • Responsible for seamless integration of shutdown, decontamination, maintenance, commissioning, and startup plans
  • Act as the lead in the preparation and execution of turnaround assurance reviews, and lead the Turnaround Execution team during turnaround events, being accountable for the overall quality and productivity of work in the field
  • Assume accountability for the integration and implementation of execution plans including HS&E, logistics, materials management, even if developed by others
  • Ensure alignment of resource strategy within the Maintenance, Turnaround and Construction organization including the movement and optimization of key resources during turnaround
  • Accountable to know what industry accepted ""Best in Class"" is for their area of responsibility and accountable for managing towards that level of performance, including annualized cost, duration, and scoping
  • Support the development of contracting strategy for turnaround execution
  • Keep updated on local labor market and develop a strategy to ensure recourses are available when needed

Requirements:
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Engineering Degree or Engineering Technology Diploma
  • Minimum of 10+ years of turnaround experience and maintenance field work execution in a refining or petrochemical operation combined with 5+ years of leadership experience
  • Knowledge of contracting and procurement processes
  • Deep understanding and experience in planning and executing turnaround events
