Shutdown Planner (OESS)

About the Role

A leading energy company is seeking a Shutdown Planner (OESS) to develop and maintain shutdown tracking schedules and activity work plans for offshore assets. The role ensures safe, effective, and efficient shutdown programs, integrating all maintenance, projects, and SIMOPS activities while optimizing resources and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Shutdown Planning & Scheduling

• Develop and maintain a shutdown activity list, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with company policies.
• Create detailed shutdown schedules in Primavera P6, using Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and work packs.
• Maintain accurate records of Shutdown Work Orders (SD Revision Code, Settlement Rules, Priority) in SAP and Primavera P6.
• Perform quality checks on schedules, ensuring best practices in planning & scheduling.
• Conduct schedule analysis, progress tracking, risk identification, and provide recommendations for optimization and improvement.

Resource & Cost Management

• Perform schedule density analysis, identifying clashes and recommending mitigation strategies.
• Ensure full integration of maintenance, expansion, and project shutdown activities to reduce downtime (VDT) and improve planning efficiency.
• Develop resource-loaded schedules to align with offshore POB (Personnel on Board) limitations.
• Estimate resource requirements and costs, ensuring shutdowns remain within budget.

Execution & Reporting

• Review and ensure completion of shutdown procedures and documentation before shutdown periods.
• Generate shutdown reports, including critical path analysis, deviation reports, progress tracking, and S-curves.
• Participate in risk assessments, clash reviews, and lean optimization sessions to enhance shutdown planning.
• Conduct onshore and offshore visits before, during, and after shutdowns to ensure effective execution.

About You

Qualifications & Experience:

• Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in technical planning and scheduling, particularly in offshore oil & gas or petrochemical shutdowns.
• 5+ years of experience with Primavera P6 for shutdown planning and scheduling.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance, production, materials, and execution planning.

Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in Primavera P6 and SAP for work order management and scheduling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for risk assessment and optimization.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills for cross-functional coordination.
• Ability to manage multiple shutdown activities under time-sensitive conditions.
• Strong reporting skills, including S-curves, critical path analysis, and variance reporting.
