The Company Man is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the oil drilling site, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant activities. This role acts as the primary liaison between the drilling contractor and the oil company, managing field operations while maintaining strict adherence to industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Oversight: Supervise and coordinate all drilling operations, ensuring the timely and safe execution of tasks in accordance with the project’s objectives.
- Safety Management: Enforce safety policies and procedures, conduct safety meetings, and ensure the workforce complies with all safety regulations to minimize accidents and injuries.
- Supervision: Manage and direct a team of drillers, engineers, and field workers, providing technical guidance and ensuring optimum performance.
- Liaison Role: Act as the point of contact between the client (oil company) and contractors (drilling crew), ensuring smooth communication and quick resolution of issues.
- Equipment Management: Monitor equipment usage and performance, ensuring proper maintenance and reporting any malfunctions or downtime.
- Cost Management: Monitor and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effective practices while maintaining high standards of performance and safety.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare daily drilling reports, performance logs, and incident reports as required by the client and regulatory bodies.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, environmental standards, and client-specific requirements, conducting regular audits and inspections.
- Problem-Solving: Respond to operational challenges or emergencies on-site, developing effective solutions to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
- Quality Control: Monitor drilling processes to ensure they meet technical specifications and quality standards set by the client.
Qualifications:
- Master's in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, or related field (preferred).
- Extensive field experience (5+ years) in drilling or oilfield operations, with a proven track record in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong understanding of drilling techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and environmental guidelines in the oil and gas industry.
- Willingness to work in remote or offshore locations for extended periods.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with drilling engineering and well planning.
- Familiarity with managing budgets and cost-control processes.
- Strong decision-making abilities and leadership skills under pressure.
- Proficient in the use of relevant industry software and tools.
Physical Requirements:
