Position Summary -
Seeking an Automation Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, installing, configuring, and testing equipment/devices, as well as setting up controllers, devices, and communication protocols with minimal assistance.

Primary Responsibilities -
-Install, program, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automation equipment.
-Maintain and repair automation and electrical systems for upstream onshore oil and gas operations.
-Provide on-site automation support and serve as a technical resource for control systems and field instrumentation (level, pressure, flow, vibration, etc.).
-Ensure compliance with industry and corporate process control standards.
-Follow PLC programming practices, standards, and Management of Change (MOC) procedures.
-Identify and implement improvements for instrumentation and control systems.
-Utilize CMMS (SAP) for maintenance operations.

Required Qualifications -
Education: 2-year Instrumentation or Automation Technology degree (GPA 2.5 ) or equivalent technical experience with a strong safety record or a GED.
Experience: 3 years in the oil field.
Skills:
-Intermediate knowledge of well RTU design, programming, and troubleshooting.
-Intermediate understanding of analog/discrete instrumentation and communication protocols (serial, Ethernet).
-Basic ability to maintain PLC programs (function block, ladder logic, structured text) and HMI operator interfaces.
-Familiarity with industry standards (API, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ISA, etc.).
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Windows OS.
Work Requirements:
-Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and participate in an on-call rotation.
-Willingness to travel and work in various locations as needed.
-Ability to work under air (fit test) and from aerial manlift platforms.
-Qualified to work on electrical equipment up to 480V (training and PPE provided).
-Proficiency with Lufkin 1.0, 2.0, and Weatherford pump-off controllers.

Preferred Qualifications -
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Automation (GPA 3.0 ).
Experience:
-5 years in the oil field.
-1 year of upstream oil and gas automation experience.
-Experience with Allen-Bradley and Rosemount systems.
Technical Skills:
-Ability to read and interpret Cause & Effects, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control narratives.
-Basic troubleshooting of control networks (ControlNet, Ethernet I/P, Network Switches, fiber optics, RF communications).
Soft Skills:
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to collaborate across teams and build trust.
-Active listening and problem-solving mindset to drive performance and results.
