Job Description
The Site Operator supports the safe, efficient, and environmentally sound operation of equipment for oil recovery, treatment, export and produced water clean-up operations from multiple oily water disposal lakes. Working under the supervision of the Site Manager, the role includes assisting in constructing and commissioning of oil and water production equipment, routine monitoring and operation of production equipment, executing operational procedures, supporting emergency response readiness, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts. Site Operators shall contribute to maintenance activities and, therefore, candidates with less operational experience who possess strong maintenance backgrounds in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation shall also be considered.

Key Duties will include:
- Operate and monitor field production equipment and systems including DCS, ESD, and Fire & Gas panels.
- Ensure compliance with production targets and respond to operational upsets.
- Regulate and optimize chemical injection; maintain chemical inventory.
- Document readings, adjustments, and observations accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review and understand cause and effect diagrams, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in assigned areas.
- Mentor junior staff and participate in training and competency programs.
- Demonstrate commitment to HSE standards and participate in safety initiatives and emergency response.
- Perform and document safety checks; act immediately in unsafe situations.
- Comply with Permit to Work procedures and participate as Performing Authority when needed.
- Work closely with other team members to maintain consistent, safe operations.
- Provide comprehensive written and verbal handovers.
- Support nightshift operations under the supervision of the Lead Operator or Supervisor.
- Support routine and corrective maintenance activities by assisting maintenance teams in isolating and preparing equipment.
- If qualified and competent, complete routine and corrective maintenance activities on mechanical, electrical and instrument equipment.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on mechanical and process systems to support reliability.
- Monitor equipment health indicators and report potential issues for preventive action.
- Assist in maintaining equipment records and logs and participate in maintenance planning discussions.
- Contribute to review and update of operational procedures.
- Participate in operations reviews and support root cause investigations.
- Undertake training and development to expand technical competency.
SKILLS END EXPERIENCE
- Technical diploma, degree in Oil & Gas, Process Operations, or equivalent vocational qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in oil and gas production operations, with at least 2–3 years in a similar field-based role.
- Experience with safety systems (ESD/F&G/PSD), well-site operations, and remote camp environments.
- Experience in maintaining pumps, generators, instruments, utility systems and other oil, water and gas production equipment (if from a maintenance background).
- Strong knowledge of permit to work systems and emergency procedures.
- Fluent in English & Arabic (written and spoken); ability to work in multicultural teams.
- Strong understanding of surface facility oil and water operations and equipment.
- Familiarity with SCADA/DCS systems and fluid management.
- Experience in equipment troubleshooting and performance tracking.
- Strong understanding of oil and gas production facility maintenance activities and requirements (for candidates with Maintenance backgrounds, a knowledge of Production Operations with extensive experience in equipment maintenance is required).
