Job Title: Geologist – Modeling Techniques Specialist
Location:  Oman
Reports To: Drilling Workover and Completion Well Engineer.
Overview:
As a Geologist specializing in modeling techniques, your role is pivotal in understanding and visualizing subsurface geological structures and reservoirs. You will utilize advanced modeling techniques to create accurate physical and digital representations of geological formations, contributing significantly to reservoir characterization, exploration, and production optimization efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Subsurface Modeling:
   - Develop detailed geological models using 3D seismic data, well logs, and core samples.
   - Integrate geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data to construct comprehensive subsurface models.
2. Modeling Techniques:
   - Apply advanced modeling techniques to create physical and digital representations of geological formations.
   - Use specialized software tools for reservoir simulation and visualization, enhancing the accuracy and understanding of geological structures.
3. Reservoir Characterization:
   - Conduct thorough geological studies to evaluate reservoir properties, fluid distribution, and potential hydrocarbon resources.
   - Analyze depositional environments, stratigraphy, and structural geology to identify optimal drilling locations and reservoir potential.
4. Data Analysis and Interpretation:
   - Interpret seismic reflection data and well logs to delineate subsurface structures and stratigraphy.
   - Perform detailed petrophysical analysis to assess reservoir rock properties and permeability.

5. Exploration and Production Support:
   - Provide geological input and support for exploration drilling programs and field development planning.
   - Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling engineers to optimize exploration and production strategies.

6. Reporting and Documentation:
   - Prepare comprehensive geological reports, maps, and cross-sections detailing findings and interpretations.
   - Present findings, recommendations, and uncertainties to senior management, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities as necessary.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in the oil and gas industry, with specialized knowledge in modeling techniques and reservoir characterization.
- Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, Landmark, GeoFrame).
- Strong understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and geological mapping techniques.
- Experience in seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and reservoir simulation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
Experience:
  - Minimum of 2 to 4 years’ experience in the oil field or a related industry.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with advanced modeling techniques such as 3D modeling, physical modeling, and digital visualization.
- Knowledge of reservoir engineering principles and reservoir management practices.
- Experience working on both offshore and onshore exploration and production projects.
