Power Plant Supervisor
Brigham & Women's Faulkner Hospital(BWFH)
To ensure efficient and reliable operation of all systems and equipment in the provision of heating, cooling, normal power generation, emergency power generation, and all other associated utilities to the Hospital, the Engineer Supervisor is responsible for managing and controlling all aspects of the day-to-day operations including supervision of staff, for the power plant and CHP systems.
• Oversee daily operations of the power plant and CHP systems, ensuring efficient and reliable heating, cooling, power generation, and emergency systems for the hospital.
• Review daily, weekly, and monthly operational logs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements, submitting daily logs to the Director of Facilities.
• Manage power plant staff scheduling, ensuring system testing, preventive maintenance, and equipment housekeeping are completed on time.
• Supervise and review preventive maintenance tasks, service, and repairs for the power plant, aiming for 100% completion of Life Safety equipment tasks.
• Provide project management for the fire alarm system within the power plant and auxiliary systems in the hospital building.
• Maintain required records, including daily logbook entries and inspections, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Train and develop watch engineers on power plant systems, ensuring competency and annual knowledge assessments to maintain operational standards.
• Lead safety training, ensuring safe work practices, including lockout/tag-out procedures and proper equipment handling.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts for the power plant, minimizing downtime and delays in maintenance and repairs.
• Respond to emergencies, oversee chemical treatment systems, maintain cleanliness in the power plant, and assist with the annual budget and equipment assessments.

Qualifications
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
• Staff adheres to all I C.A.R.E. Standard
• Ability to read and understand complex plans and schematics associated with equipment typically found in a power plant environment.
• Ability to plan, schedule, and manage repairs, installation, and maintenance of the power plant systems with in-house or external staff.
• Proficient with computers and computer-based power plant equipment operational and equipment supervisory systems.
Education requirements:
• High school graduation required.
• Steam engineering school classes are required.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
• 2nd Class Engineer License is required.
• U.S.T. Class A/B Operator Grade I (or higher) is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
At least 5+ years of progressive hospital power plant experience including 3+ years of direct staff supervision strongly preferred.
