Associate - Nuclear New Build Strategy
AtkinsRéalis is one of Canada's largest private sector nuclear engineering groups. We have been providing a wide range of services to the nuclear industry in Canada and around the world since for more than 60 years. We are proud to be the steward of Canadian CANDU nuclear technology.
We are setting up an in-house consulting team and are looking for a mix of team members reporting to the Director Monark Design to Cost. The team will operate as unit within the larger business unit and capital development projects to frame decisions, problem solve topics that arise and support longer term initiatives. The intention is that the team operates tightly so that work, knowledge, and growth goals are achieved and shared across the team.
The associate role will be responsible for supporting a wide variety of projects including leading the development and execution of an integrated, team-wide Design-to-Cost methodology, supporting go to market strategies for the business unit, developing vendor and procurement strategies, among other topics. The role will frame the decisions that the Nuclear New Build leaders would make based on analysis and framing of:
The role will be a blend of traditional strategy work with execution. There is also room in the role to take-on initiatives within the business unit with discussion from their line manager.
The preferred candidates experience includes several years a top-tier management consulting firm looking for either their next step into industry or a change in pace.

- Operating models (org. structures, reporting lines) within the project / company.
- Real cost data, individual rates, and corporate margins.
- Strategic 3rd party transactions.
- Confidential and strategic info for Candu and ATRL (revenue, EBIT).
- Resource and FTE allocations and forecasts.
- Confidential and sensitive market strategies.

Your role within the team:
- The Associate should work with the information highlighted above to frame critical decisions for Nuclear New Build leadership.
- The Associate shall work with said information in a confidential way and align with leaderships agreed communication approach on decisions.
- The Associate much be able to complete analysis free of error and mistake to support decision making.
- The Associate must have a common understanding of business best practices and business acumen to provide context on their analysis to support leaderships decision making.
- The Associate should have strong interpersonal and management skills such that they can manage the day-to-day responsibilities and provide coaching of either a dedicated or part-time analyst.
- The Associate shall lead by example the project organization, through day-to-day exhibition of Atkins Realis's core values: Safety, Integrity, Collaboration and Innovation.
- The Associate is responsible for developing all project scopes and deliverable definition in compliance with the governing contract documents, quality requirements for the project and any additional customer requirements.
- The Associate is responsible and accountable for all aspects of nuclear and industrial safety including adherence with corporate and customer safety programs, development and enforcement of necessary training and requirements, adherence to corrective action programs and enforcement of performance standards for all the above.
- The Associate shall ensure that all project activities are performed in accordance with corporate standards of ethical compliance, cyber-security, import-export regulations, intellectual property protections and security clearance protocols.
- The Associate shall apply project controls methodology with respect to planning and scheduling, baseline management, cost control, budgeting, cashflow, invoicing, cost and revenue forecasting and resource management.
- The Associate shall develop and implement detailed project execution plans and monitoring their execution through comprehensive reporting to clients and senior management.
- The Associate shall perform rigorous risk analysis in accordance with corporate standards and application of industry best practice including monte-carlo methodology and contingency draw-down curves.
