Travel Domestic travel required approximately 10% of the time
Objective
The position shall be responsible for supporting Estimating Bid Leads by developing quantity take-offs and associated costs from client bid packages. Must work with external Suppliers, Vendors and Subcontractors to ensure scope alignment and secure pricing on certain and specific scopes of work. Must have experience in Water Treatment and/or Wastewater Treatment Plants in one or more of the following disciplines: earthwork, mechanical piping (process or yard), equipment, commercial/ architectural, structural steel, and/or concrete. Must have experience estimating projects > $25 MM.

Regular Job Duties
- Quantity take-offs for the division/packages assigned in the bids.
- Track actual costs relative to bids as the project develops. Track actual commodities pricing for items that may impact cost before bid or during buy-out phase.
- Consult with suppliers, vendors, subcontractors and Waterworks personnel in other departments to discuss project and formulate strategies, estimates and resolve conflict issues.
- Confer with subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors for your divisions using
- Prepare sub-bid analysis documents for use by project team in qualifying sub-bids and material.
- Prepare electronic estimates including preliminary cost information
- Maintain a highly organized work environment and manage multiple projects with various bid dates simultaneously.
- Other duties as assigned by manager
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, environmental engineering, or mechanical engineering highly preferred
- 1-2 years field experience in water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, water reclamation/purification or de-salinization markets is preferred
- Prefer experience in operating estimating software such as AutoCAD, Primavera, Timberline, WinEst, etc.
- Experience in operating MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word.
- Prefer experience in all delivery methods - Hard Bid, CSP, CMAR, CMGC and/or Design Build.
- Ability to take directions, work independently, be self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and manage multiple bid opportunities at one time.
- Ability to work as part of a team throughout pre-construction stage
- Valid driver license for occasional, required travel
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Full understanding of Construction Math concepts. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
