POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Typical work assignments include performing all aspects of survivability testing on systems and components to include nuclear effects, electromagnetic environmental effects, and directed energy effects. Prepare test plans and procedures, provide test system setup, perform system checkouts, operate and maintain test systems, collect, reduce and analyze data, and prepare test reports. Perform component level characterizations, design and setup, and operate data acquisition systems to collect data for survivability assessment programs. Conduct radiated emissions and susceptibility testing and field mapping. Design and fabricate data test console and subsystem as well as test beds for component level characterization. Build and repair fiber optic and coaxial cables. Provide operational and maintenance services for test facility systems and equipment such as Fast Burst Reactor, Gamma Radiation Facility, Linear Accelerator, Electromagnetic Pulse Facilitates, Electromagnetic Radiation Facilities, and Electrostatic Discharge and Lightning Facilities, and semiconductor test laboratory.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate must have demonstrated their ability to safely handle radioactive materials and have a current Radioactive Materials Handler Certification and/or a Non- Ionizing Radiation Certification. Must have a thorough working knowledge of ionizing and non- ionizing radiation characterization equipment, as well as hand on experience operating and maintaining such facilities. Also required is in-depth understanding of dosimetry, transient radiation effects on electronics, and semiconductor response and characteristics testing. May be required to provide technical guidance to lower level technicians.
Qualification requirements at a minimum include graduation from a two-year resident course at a technical institution with eight years progressive experience in the a-fore mentioned specialty fields. Applicable Military, Department of Energy or Commercial Training will be considered based on duration and depth of training. Applicant selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Work will include associated cross-utilization into these and other jobs as required. May require some overtime and weekend work.
