SUMMARY: The Estimator's responsibility includes creating, reviewing and tracking customer requests for estimates, creating project estimates, following up on submitted estimates, creating/reviewing and delivering job start packages to the Pursuit teams, and reviewing completed jobs and margins to identify estimate improvements. The Estimator ensures Premise Inc. crews have the scope of work and job budget information to complete projects on time, on budget, and to our customers satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops accurate and detailed scopes of work, including labor, materials, subcontractor, and other project costs for Premise SOW.
  • Responsible for developing comprehensive and accurate estimates for photovoltaic and battery storage projects, ranging in size from 1MW to over 50MW.
  • Utilizes cost estimation software to generate estimates and maintain comprehensive project records.
  • Manages and prioritizes estimating workload to ensure timely responses and submittals, meeting customer deadlines.
  • Reviews and assesses submitted estimates, incorporating customer feedback to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Identify potential project risks and bring them forward for discussion, and mitigation strategies.
  • Interfaces directly with customers throughout the bidding process.
  • Collaborates with internal and external teams to solicit pricing and provide complete bid packages, maintaining ownership throughout the entire bidding process.
  • Requests and evaluates pricing for bonds, sales tax, insurance, prevailing wage, and other project-specific requirements.
  • Reviews historical project data and lessons learned with construction teams to improve pricing model accuracy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • In addition to the above, other required qualifications for this role are:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred or 5 years of experience
    1. 4+ years of experience in commercial or industrial construction estimating in solar
    2. Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
    3. Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as ProEst
    4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    6. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
    7. Understanding of construction materials, methods, and terminology
    8. Experience with commercial building, electrical codes, and industrial Solar projects
    9. Ability to travel up to 5%

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, lift, talk, hear, see, reach, grasp and use hands and fingers to operate a computer key board, telephone, and other office equipment. The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 15 lbs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The employee performs the essential functions of this job in a normal indoor office environment.
