Our Project team are currently looking to have an Offshore Commissioning Operations SME join their group to provide leadership and technical expertise in the management of offshore projects. This position will be based in our St. John's office with casual business trips to Ingleside, TX and transition Offshore Newfoundland for the completion of project scope.

The SME (Subject Matter Expert) will be responsible for providing strategic guidance, ensuring operational excellence, and compliance with industry standards and safety protocols in offshore Newfoundland. This role will require in-depth knowledge of offshore operations and commissioning, including; drilling, production, logistics, safety, and environmental considerations.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead the development and completion progress tracking of the commissioning procedures
  • Lead the execution of specific commissioning scopes during the offshore phase of the project
  • Provide input into the offshore execution schedule
  • Support the completion of offshore project deliverables and champion these plans during the offshore phase
  • Assist with any requirements associated with commissioning procedures/packages and associated energy isolations, tools and materials
  • Provide input into the offshore commissioning Resource plan
  • Provide input into offshore commissioning tools/equipment
  • Liaise with onsite commissioning team as required
  • Provide input into the offshore commissioning strategy
  • Input into CMS relating to offshore commissioning check sheet requirement
  • Provide input with the CMS manager regarding handover and milestone certification
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment of offshore operations with project goals and objectives
  • Assist with identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to maintain a safe working environment.


We think you should have:

  • Technical diploma with a minimum 10+ years of experience working in an Offshore environment, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience in Oil and facility operations at leadership level.
  • Understanding of control of hazardous energy and operation permit to work system
  • Ability to lead multi disciplinary teams through commissioning operations procedure execution
  • Knowledge and experience commissioning and operating offshore Fire water and Deluge systems
  • Knowledge and experience commissioning and operating offshore Seawater cooling systems
  • Deep understanding process and utility operations
  • Must have Offshore Construction/Commissioning Management experience in a multi-discipline environment;
  • Strong knowledge of offshore Commissioning and Operations management methodologies
  • Expertise in offshore equipment, technologies, and operational procedures.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and environmental regulations governing offshore operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced offshore environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Required to travel to offshore project sites and complete mandatory safety training and meet qualifications required for work offshore;
  • Must have understanding of local safety and industry regulations.
