We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Marine Surveyor to join our team of Maritime experts in technically supporting all marine consultancy services. We encourage anyone who is interested and has the right skill set to apply for the role.

What you will be doing:

As our Senior Marine Surveyor, you will be responsible for all marine operational duties including but not limited to loadouts, transportation and towage approvals, document reviews, general rig move consultancy, Jack-up and semi-submersible marine warranty, condition and suitability surveys, project marine warranty attendance, general Marine consultancy & assist with Risk Assessment. In addition, you will:
  • Take part in technical and procedural reviews and marine study reports covering marine and offshore projects as well as site attendances.
  • Attendance of rig moves, P&I surveys, H&M surveys and other marine operations as required.
  • Assist with preparation of tenders and proposals for offshore MWS and other related offshore projects.
  • Evaluate operational risks and assess the feasibility of Marine operations by technical review of onsite specifications.
  • Contribute to the development of the Marine and Offshore Operations.
  • Ensure all operations are conducted in full compliance with approved instructions, procedures, and policies.
  • Assist and/or lead projects (as assigned by the manager) to accomplish the overall delivery of optimum solutions to customers within the timeframe, costs and quality standards established by ABL Group and/or the client.
  • Responsible for delivery of quality documents within a timeline established by management and client.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure project completion and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide training, mentoring and motivation to colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The role is based in Aberdeen however we would like to hear from candidates based elsewhere in Scotland. We offer hybrid and remote working. The candidate should have the right to live and work in the UK. Flexibility to working hours, willingness to travel and work within a variety of time zones - offshore travel is a requirement of the job.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a driven and solution-oriented professional with sound technical skills and good decision-making capabilities. The successful candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills, strong leadership ability, and be able to deal effectively with multiple issues and assignments simultaneously. In addition, you will:
  • Be a Mariner (STCW II/2) or equivalent with significant survey consultancy-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience within the Marine or Offshore Industry.
  • Exposure to marine consultancy including warranty, vessel and asset inspections, audits, surveys, damage surveys and project management is a significant advantage.
  • Demonstrate good decision-making capability with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgement, and strong operational focus.
  • Possess accurate reporting and the ability to deliver high-quality work on time.
  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a good command of written and spoken English.
  • Exhibit effective time management skills including an ability to deal effectively with multiple issues and assignments simultaneously.

Desirable Skills:
  • Marine Warranty / Rig Move experience.
  • Fully conversant with marine and engineering consultancy to the offshore oil and gas markets.
  • Previous shore experience from a similar role.
  • OVID or e-CMID accreditation.
  • ISM auditor accreditation.
  • Experience onboard Jack up or semi-submersible rigs.
  • Experience with Marine Insurance and P&I.
