Summary

Essential Functions
Qualifications
Completion of a high school diploma or GED certificate with an preferred two years of relevant experience; or any combination of relevant experience which provides the following:
Class "C" Water or Wastewater Certification within two years
Valid Current Driver's License
Physical Exam Required
Applicants who possess a TCEQ license may be considered for an accelerated apprentice program. Applicants must submit proof of licensing at the time of application.

Summary

Essential Functions
- Maintain proper treatment plant records, logs, and shift reports; complete the monthly treatment plant report; assist the shift leader in maintaining control room records and logs;
- Maintain proper treatment process control by backwashing filters, flushing valves, adjusting and balancing plant flow, adjusting chemical dosages, and other required tasks; record readings from meters, gauges, and other
measuring devices; - Monitor treatment plant equipment to determine operating condition, write work orders to correct equipment malfunctions and other maintenance needs;
- Obtain plant samples; perform treatment process control analyses as scheduled and required; make standardized observations; report results;
- Assist the shift leader with the S.C.A.D.A duties, radio dispatching and maintaining proper public relations;
- Maintain appearance of plant buildings, equipment, and grounds; clean debris from basins, filters, pump buildings, pumps, and grounds; clean assigned plant areas and keep them orderly; paint equipment as necessary;
- Provide input regarding operational improvements in the areas of safety, process efficiency, and public image;
- Work on special projects as assigned by supervisory personnel;
- Perform related job duties as required.

- Principles and methods of water or wastewater treatment;
- Safe Drinking Water Act;
- OSHA and in-house safety manual.
- Monitor and control treatment plant equipment;
- Prepare reports and interpret written instructions;
- Work cooperatively with others;
- Operate a computer keyboard;
- Perform duties in noisy working conditions;
- Use Self-contained breathing apparatus as required.
- Requires a clean-shaven face. (Not required for wastewater)
- Frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds;
- Frequently carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally carry up to 50 pounds;
- Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees;
- Occasionally rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing;
- Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement;
- Place arms above, at, or below shoulder height;
- Frequently walk and stand during the shift.
