Your role and responsibilities

As a Quality Engineer, reporting to the Quality Service Manager, you are responsible for ensuring compliance and implementing the quality strategy within the organization. This includes cultivating a quality-focused culture, utilizing systems and tools, and leveraging competent teams. The goal is to meet and exceed customer expectations while ensuring sustainable operations. The Quality Engineer assists the organization in achieving an optimal combination of prevention, continuous improvement, robust root cause analysis, rapid response, and sustainable problem-solving. The role involves collaborating with local functions impacting quality outcomes to meet organizational unit objectives and aim for world-class performance. This position is part of ABB's Electrification, Installation Products division and is based in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. • Lead the deployment of quality management strategies and objectives. • Collaborate with leadership to innovatively shape the design and development of the functional domain. • Support management with quality-related content, tools, and systems. • Continuously identify and address risks and opportunities in quality management. • Conduct audits to assess compliance with defined systems. • Analyze organizational quality data to identify risks, failures, and non-conformities. • Support local teams to ensure stakeholder requirements are met, focusing on prevention rather than control. • Execute and/or coordinate activities related to designated quality domains, such as customer and complaint management, departmental planning, product safety and compliance, design and development process adherence, internal audits, and reporting. • Champion the customer voice, ensuring risks, issues, and solutions are evaluated from the perspective of customers/stakeholders. • Handle customer case resolution (internal and external) through robust root cause analysis and preventive and corrective actions. • Maintain and enhance the quality management system, including processes and tools to ensure seamless and reproducible process execution, identifying gaps, and exploring improvement opportunities. • Utilize the local quality management system to provide teams with procedures for sustainable execution. • Support local teams in implementing an operational approach and process management system, continuously assessing its effectiveness. • Create and deliver training materials on the quality management system and related content. • Coordinate and participate in industry benchmarking activities, both within and outside ABB, to continually challenge the status quo. • Assist in initiatives to enhance agreed-upon quality aspects.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Green Belt certification is an asset.
  • Bilingual in French and English, with excellent oral and written communication skills (English is essential for communicating with clients and suppliers outside Quebec).
  • Knowledge of electricity is an asset.
  • Excellent communicator with strong data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Customer satisfaction oriented.
  • Comfortable managing supplier relationships.
  • Team player with strong collaboration skills across multiple departments.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
