The office building in Brussels (Machelen) houses ExxonMobil's regional headquarters for Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EMEA) and the European Technology Centre (ETC) for research and development.
To support the growth of our European Technology Center (ETC) in Brussels, we are looking for several Research Technicians in different groups. In ETC we strive to develop and maintain state-of-the-art capabilities to advance research in support for businesses throughout ExxonMobil. Research topics span from the discovery of novel catalytic material for new or more efficient production processes, to the development of next generation packaging solutions maximizing recyclability, via implementation of latest analytical techniques.

What will you do?

The Exxonmobil Research Technicians at ETC in Machelen are giving support to their related business units. Some of our teams are focusing on operating (semi) industrial processing units like film forming lines and film conversion processes for research and development purposes, to support the Customer and Application development teams of different polymer related business units. Our Performance Liquids Team is supporting the Fluids/solvents business and provides new solutions/applications/support towards several customers in the plasticizer business. Our Technology center also defines state-of-the-art analytical capabilities to advance research in support for business throughout Exxonmobil. This department is composed of eight laboratories. Elemental Analysis, Gas Chromatography, Infrared spectroscopy, Liquid Chromatography, Microscopy, NMR, Rheology and Thermal analysis.

• Safely operate equipment. This includes: start-up, taking samples, data logging, adjusting conditions, performing housekeeping duties, shutdown ...
• Work independently and plan and organize incoming requests efficiently; this includes prompt communication with requestors on job status
• The scope of the performed experiments are set by the Technology organization based on manufacturing and R&D program's needs. Technology engineers provide background and instructions upfront as well as technical support on a regular basis.
• High quality awareness and honest reporting is a must
• Understand the importance of details, have good observation skills and flawlessly execute activities order to meet quality requirements
• After gaining experience, take ownership of the related equipment and propose improvement ideas to increase safety and efficiency.
• Interact with different groups and levels in the organization

a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Production Technology, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
