- Wood is recruiting for a Senior Piping Designer for Operations team here in Baku
- Coaching and mentoring as delegated.
- Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific Procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement
- Participate in audits and incident investigations as required.
- Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development
- Proficiency in E3D Model Management
- Extensive experience in managing, creating, and reviewing 3D piping models using AVEVA E3D or equivalent tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve modeling issues efficiently.
Strong Background in Piping Layout Design
• Expertise in the design and optimization of piping layouts for complex industrial projects (e.g., oil & gas, petrochemical, power plants).
• Knowledge of international codes and standards such as ASME, API, or ISO. - Project Leadership and Coordination Skills
• Proven experience in leading piping layout teams and coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Ability to manage design reviews, clash checks, and ensure project deliverables meet quality standards.
Comprehensive Understanding of Plant Design
• In-depth knowledge of equipment layouts, piping systems, and constructability requirements.
• Experience in space management, accessibility, and maintainability in 3D plant designs.
Technical Communication and Documentation
• Strong ability to produce and review design documentation, including isometrics, GA drawings, and material take-offs.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with clients, vendors, and stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive HSSEA culture and performance through assigned discipline group.
- Ensure discipline design integrity is maintained across work scopes.

- Provide discipline personnel to deliver work scopes in line with company policies and procedures and within customer requirements
- Manage and work within budgets and manage utilization of resources vs workload.
- Support Head of Engineering Discipline to produce discipline input to engineering execution plans Establish and continuously improve design systems and tools required by the discipline to deliver cost effective and competitive design execution.
- Plan and prioritizes work to meet discipline commitments aligned with organizational goals. With guidance, looks ahead to determine and obtain needed resources to complete plans.
Identify and pursue opportunities for margin enhancement including through HVEC utilisation Strategy and Development / Business Development
QUALIFICATIONS
- Support strengthening and deepening the use of workshare
- Collaboratively produce discipline input to proposals with other discipline heads Provide support to the business development process to identify and win new work
- Under guidance from the Head of Engineering, communicate the vision and strategic direction for the Discipline Design Group; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision and values; motivate people to commit to these
- Secure future resource and capability requirements within the discipline area to deliver current and future projects and lead on recruitment and selection of resources.
- Line Management of direct reports, including: setting targets and objectives performance reviews, career progression, training and development
- Builds an inclusive team culture which recognizes the value that different perspectives and cultures bring
- Manage discipline competence assessments, development plans and support professional development
- Identification of competence gaps in discipline group and identify/organize technical training or on the job development to close gaps
- In parallel with other line or functional managers , identify the discipline team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development specified by professional or regulatory institutions, to build their professional capabilities.
- Implement formal development frameworks for the discipline design team, ensuring the development of personnel to take more senior roles as their career progresses. Maintain succession plans for the discipline.
