What You Can Expect

ENGIE Global Energy Management and Sales (GEMS) is responsible for managing the portfolio of gas, electricity, congestion revenues rights and environmental products for ENGIE, across geographies. More recently, GEMS has extended his scope to also manage all the market risks (energy, congestion, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), ancillaries) generated by the Renewable and Battery Storage Assets owned by ENGIE North America, which includes wind farms and solar farms - the Renewable Portfolio Management team is precisely the group in charge of these activities.

  • Join a team of renewable portfolio managers to manage a growing portfolio of wind and solar assets expected to reach 8GW+ of installed capacity in the coming years
  • Develop and execute a strategy for forward hedging of wind and solar assets in conjunction with the other parts of Engie North America which warehouse or originate electricity market risks (Battery Storage, Data Centers, Retail, Trading)
  • Model long term valuations for the co-location of renewable and battery storage assets with data centers and Power to X sites
  • Create optimized trading strategies around co-located sites to mitigate risks and maximize portfolio profitability
  • Articulate and execute hedging strategies deploying different instruments according various risk profiles, including energy hedges, gas hedges, options, Virtuals, Point-to-Point transactions, Firm Transmission Rights, Transmission Congestion Rights, Congestion Revenue Rights (FTR/TCR/CRRs), and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) financial power transactions
  • Build and deploy strategies for Day-Ahead offers for a large portfolio of wind and solar farms
  • Develop strategies and execute trades with our Congestion Trading team to assess congestion risks in the respective Independent System Operators (ISOs)
  • Analyze and discuss the commercial terms of existing and upcoming Power Purchase Agreement (PPAs), identifying the underlying risks, and proposing alternative language and/or risk mitigation strategies
  • Analyze and price option strategies designed to reduce tail-end risk exposure to market volatility and inherent asset offtake structures
  • Monitor markets trends, regulatory landscape, current risk levels and exposures, and other relevant sources of impacts
  • Articulate with Risk Group the development and improvement of the risk metrics, and the proper representation of assets and PPAs in our management systems
  • Produce monthly market analysis containing energy balances, the performance of transactions, market trends, and recommended course of action


What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in which you completed courses in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or any other related disciplines
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in Competitive Power Markets
  • A minimum of 3 years of power marketing, power trading, asset management, or risk management experience
  • Experience in the market structure, transactions, and protocols of ERCOT/SPP/MISO/PJM markets
  • Excellent data handling, structuring, organizing, processing, and presenting skills (using Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Resourceful, ability to use a variety of tools (price/valuation/database/modeling), data sources, and systems; and inherent curiosity to procure and test new resources
  • Solid finance knowledge (i.e., capable of interpreting Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement and Budgets)
  • Commercial acumen with a good understanding of business principles, contracts, and relationships, including specific experience negotiating power purchase agreements and/or over the counter trades
  • Deadline driven with project management skills for cross-organizational coordination

Compensation

Salary Range: $103,950 - $ 173,250 USD annually

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
