The R&D Scientist I role is an entry level position that is responsible for performing routine analytical and/or engineering functions on assigned projects of a general nature and limited scope by applying standard mathematical, scientific, and/or engineering technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares evaluation reports and analyzes discrepancies to execute solutions based on recommendations from technical experts.
- Assists in the preparation of product or project definitions, or lab testing methods.
- Interacts with external and internal stakeholders to assist in resolving routine design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
- Develops procedures to implement proper quality controls.
- Performs routine tests/experiments to analyze and correct problems.
- Assist senior technical experts to develop and document improvements/innovations.
- Evaluates opportunities for defect prevention based on standard or accepted solutions.
You Must Have
- No prior experience required.
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in Chemistry, Physics or equivalent
- Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
- United States Citizenship
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
- Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

- Previous relevant internship experience preferred.
- Familiarity of ICP techniques.
- Method development skills
- Familiarity of dissolution chemistry knowledge in metals and materials
- Leadership skills and ability to actively contribute to teams or work independently.
- Experience using MS Office Suite desktop applications, such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- IT skills beyond basic MS Office skills involving sophisticated analytical instrument software, networking, and other computer systems use.
- Able to work independently with little to no supervision on all job responsibilities.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and responsibilities concurrently.
- Familiar with Six Sigma tools.
