The Utility Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of various building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and steam systems. This role ensures that all systems are functioning safely, efficiently, and in compliance with local and national codes and regulations. The Utility Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining the facility's infrastructure and supporting daily operations.

This role ensures that all systems are functioning safely, efficiently, and in compliance with local and national codes and regulations. The Utility Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining the facility's infrastructure and supporting daily operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of utility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and steam systems within the life science facility.
- Calibration and regular adjustment of system controls to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
- Troubleshooting and resolving operational and functional issues related to utility systems.
- Promptly responding to service calls and requests related to utility system issues.
- Collaborating with other tradespeople, suppliers, and inspectors to ensure proper project work and code compliance.
- Staying updated on changes in safety standards and utility system codes.
- Maintaining clear communication with the facility manager, team members, and other relevant parties about work performed and the status of ongoing projects.
- Completing work in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.

Requirements (Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, plus vocational training or apprenticeship, and five years of related experience.
- Engineer License is required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and steam systems.
- Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools.
- Ability to read system diagrams and technical manuals for troubleshooting and maintenance.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements
- The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and perform physical labor related to maintenance and repair.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Possible frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places and outside weather conditions.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Availability to respond to after-hours emergencies as necessary.
