Total Safety is looking for an Offshore Fire Tech 1 to add to their safety conscious team! The Offshore Fire Tech 1 works with minimal supervision in order to perform inspections, troubleshooting and repairs of lifesaving equipment, portable & semi-portable fire extinguishers and various types of suppression systems found in an offshore oil and gas environment. May occasionally rely on senior team members and office personnel for guidance. Total Safety will train and help get certifications for this individual.

Essential Job Functions
• Adopt and promote Total Safety's culture of "Ensuring the Safe Wellbeing of Workers Worldwide" in one's daily activities.
• Familiar with the rules and regulations associated with the various types of life safety equipment relevant to our lines of business (e.g. NFPA, CFR, ABS, USCG, BSEE, etc.)
• Assist and take direction from senior technician with the inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing of various life safety equipment associated with our lines of business when job dictates.
• Capable of completing assigned task and move to the next task with limited instruction.
• Capable of completing a properly written Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
• Capable of utilizing Total Safety's work ticket program, reviewing work ticket with customer and obtaining all necessary signatures, charge codes, AFE's, etc. to allow for proper invoicing of work ticket in a timely manner or learn said system within three (3) months of employment with Total Safety.
• Capable of completing Total Safety inspection reports and associated processes for submitting said reports to customer and Total Safety office in a timely manner in order to satisfy regulatory requirements.
• Capable of verbally communicating to customer all services performed, repairs made and discrepancies found that need further attention in order to maintain regulatory compliance.
• Completes monthly & quarterly safety training in the Learning Management System (LMS) program without any direction or input from management.
• Participates in daily pre-work safety meetings (e.g. morning safety meetings, toolbox meetings).
• Become familiar with and adheres to Total Safety's and customer's safety policies and practices.
• Learn to read and comprehend a Safety Analysis Function Evaluation (SAFE) chart.
• Learn to read and comprehend a facility station bill and/or firefighting plan.
• Learn to properly operate a multi-meter.
• Willing to train and/or teach subordinate technicians.

Qualifications
• High School diploma or GED (associates degree, background in electronics or military training preferred)
• Must have Offshore experience working in the Oil and Gas Industry.
• Must have a PEC card with a SafeGulf endorsement and worked offshore in the Gulf of Mexico in the last 6 months.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) card.
• Possess a valid driver's license from state of residence and valid proof of vehicle insurance.
• Have and retain a driving record in good standing under Total Safety's Safety Driving policy in order to operate a Total Safety owned or rented vehicle or to operate a personally owned vehicle on behalf of Total Safety (required in order to receive compensation).
• Must have reliable and readily available personally owned vehicle.
• Must attend and complete a Tropical Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (T-HUET) course and a Swing Rope/Personnel Transfer course or provide proof of current certification for same training.
• Possess a certificate indicating completing of a LA State Fire Marshal recognized course for fire extinguishers inspections or qualify to attend a LA State Fire Marshal recognized course in order to obtain a fire extinguisher inspection endorsement within three (3) months of employment.
• Must be willing to submit to a respirator fit test and wear a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus if required.
• Must be willing to travel short and/or long distances to customer land sites or points of departure for offshore related work.
• Must be willing and capable to travel by helicopter and/or boat to offshore work sites.
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose assigned equipment problems and take corrective action within policy and procedure limitations.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Must have good computer skills specifically a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment, assumed additional responsibilities when called upon to include leading a team.
Initiative
• Must closely follow operational, safety, quality guidelines and maintain assigned work schedule. Is expected to use initiative to learn job, ask questions and develop skills.
• Work toward obtaining a NICET I certification in Fire Alarm Systems and/or NICET I in Special Hazards within the first twelve (12) months of employment.

Interpersonal Communications
Ability to read, write and comprehend English as a primary or secondary language. Second language is a plus. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Contacts with immediate associates and immediate supervisor for instructions, training and guidance.

Complexity of Duties and Decisions
Must follow established operational, process, compliance and safety and emergency response procedures. Must adhere to specifications and schedule. Work is reviewed for completeness and accuracy, or inherent checks are built into the nature of the work. Most errors are caught during self-inspection or by higher level staff before leaving work unit. Impact is minimal.

Scope and Responsibility
Works with minimal supervision: Specific instructions are given on assignment or follows written/verbal instructions and established procedures & standard practices to perform assigned tasks. No direct reports but may be call upon to assist less experienced team members.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, sit or crouch for extended periods of time. Uses hands to finger to handle or feel, reach with hands & arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move equipment up to 60 pounds on a single level or multi-level structure. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
May be frequently exposed to hot, cold, wet, windy and humid outside weather conditions. May be exposed to high noise work areas and equipment. May be exposed to vibrating & moving machinery and high pressure piping. May be required to work at heights. May be exposed to chemicals requiring the use of specific PPE.
