Roles and responsibilities:

The successful candidate for this role will be responsible for 1) working with the team to identify applicable gas sensor technologies, 2) developing technological solutions for gas sensing, 3) performing test and evaluation on gas sensors to understand benefits and limitations of each technology, and/or 4) supporting field studies using gas sensing platforms

The successful applicant will have experience working in a laboratory, documenting methods, and recording and processing results into technical reports and presentations. Additional responsibilities may include participating in field sampling efforts or guiding collection of field samples to meet project goals. The successful candidate will be an independent self-starter, have excellent organizational and time management skills, demonstrable written and oral communication skills, and thrive in a collaborative, team-based environment

Qualifications:

  • B.S. with more than 5 years of experience or M.S. Degree in a relevant field (i.e. chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science/engineering)
  • Demonstrated experience/training in operating and calibrating analytical chemistry equipment.
  • Experience with electrochemistry and/or optical spectroscopy is preferred.
  • Experience with gas-phase analytical chemistry is preferred.
  • Experience with analysis software and/or programming languages (i.e., R, Python) is preferred.
  • This position may require occasional travel (10%)
  • This position is onsite at a government facility and requires U.S. citizenship
