Wood has a collaborative maintenance contract with Ampol to deliver leading maintenance and project services to their Lytton Refinery in Brisbane, Australia.
We are recruiting for a Welding Inspector to join the Wood team in the new year 2025 at the Refinery - on a permanent basis.
The role of the Welding Inspector is to ensure all mechanical activities meet quality requirements according to drawings, specifications, standards and codes supported by appropriate testing and inspection records.

The role of the Welding Inspector is to ensure all mechanical activities meet quality requirements according to drawings, specifications, standards and codes supported by appropriate testing and inspection records.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct or coordinate inspections in accordance with site procedures,
- Coordinate maintenance PWHT and NDT activities,
- In accordance with ITP, conduct site inspections on Witness, Review & Hold Points,
- Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with ITP,
- Undertake visual inspection of welds and weld repairs rates,
- Provide final inspection of maintenance work, create a list of outstanding punchlist items if required,
- Document non-conformances,
- Ensure all drawings have been as built,
- Ensure activities are supported by appropriate QA documents,
- Revise and create QA documentation,
- Verify correct materials are used prior to activities being executed,
- Support the contractor QA Advisors to implement QMP,
- Support the contractor QA Advisors to conduct periodic audits.
QUALIFICATIONS
- AS1796 and/or AS2214 Welding Supervisor,
- CSWIP 3.1 or IIW IWI B Welding Inspector,
- Cert III Fabrication/Engineering,
- Demonstrated experience with welding and fabrication activities,
- Demonstrated understanding of Australian and international Standards,
- Previous experience in a CMMS.
