JOB DESCRIPTION

The Purchasing Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality assurance, to ensure on time delivery of goods, maintain optimal inventory levels, enhance cost-efficiency, and ensure the highest product quality. This role demands strong analytical skills to support data-driven decision-making and process improvements that optimize procurement operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Evaluate and select new suppliers to meet company needs for raw materials, components, and finished goods.
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics to ensure they meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Oversee the procurement process from order creation to delivery and payment, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Review and approve purchase orders, contracts, and payment schedules using the ERP system.
  • Collaborate with the planning team to maintain a daily expediting program, ensuring on-time deliveries.
  • Track and report on key purchasing metrics, supplier performance, and delivery timelines to ensure procurement KPIs are met.
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize procurement costs and ensure the timely delivery of materials and components.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify new opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with production planning and inventory strategy teams to ensure efficient inventory levels, reduce excess stock, and minimize shortages.
  • Implement just-in-time (JIT) or other inventory management strategies to reduce holding costs and improve workflow.
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to understand material requirements for new product designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Assist the quality assurance department in ensuring suppliers meet all necessary certifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with business systems team to ensure smooth integration of procurement data with other functional areas for better cross-functional alignment.
  • Utilize ERP and advanced data analytics tools to analyze procurement data, identify trends, and generate reports that provide actionable insights.
  • Monitor procurement performance using KPIs, helping to drive continuous improvements in procurement processes.
  • Prepare detailed analytical reports for senior management to inform decision-making and process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in the procurement cycle and implement best practices.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, and new technologies related to pressure control equipment manufacturing.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
    • A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPM, CPIM) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity within a manufacturing environment, preferably in pressure control equipment or related industries.
  • Extensive experience working with ERP systems, particularly Oracle Cloud or similar ERP systems, to manage procurement operations.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of procurement processes, vendor negotiations, and contract management.
  • Strong proficiency in Oracle Cloud or similar ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience in data-driven decision-making, especially in large-scale procurement and manufacturing environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with suppliers, team members, and senior management.
  • Must be able to work under pressure to achieve deadlines.
  • Ability to meet or exceed standards as established by the department.
  • Ability to adapt and be cross-trained to learn all job duties.
  • Assertive and can drive urgency when problems arise with making new components.
  • Ability to drive teamwork between groups and cross functional teams.
  • Ability to drive issues to closure and get job done in professional and compliant manner.
