Votre missionn

Your mission

Within the "Brazil & Global Projects Centre" (GPC, Subsea7's center of excellence for executing large-scale projects worldwide), the "Structure Design" department is responsible for designing and sizing offshore infrastructure in the energy sector. This department primarily focuses on deepwater fields, from permanent structures to Fabrication and Installation Aids. Additionally, we have the capability to support projects related to renewable energies (fixed offshore or floating development). Our studies cover the entire cycle from the conceptual phase to execution, including installation and construction stages.

One of the elements used during the Offshore installation of so-called "flexible" products is a bolted supporting device called a Hang Off Collar (HOC). This critical element alone supports from a few tens to several hundreds of tons-equivalent of dynamic tension.

This internship will involve, in the first phase, understanding all the functionalities of different HOC concepts as well as the loads to which the elements are subjected. You will then list the different HOCs used in our previous projects to establish a typology of the geometries and functionalities used. You will then establish, with your internship supervisor, a methodology, study tools, and validation documents for the HOCs by the mean of finite element analyses with the ANSYS software. The goal will be to design and verify all the elements of the HOCs as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Votre profil

Your profile

This internship is intended for a final-year engineering student, with a mechanical engineering background. A strong understanding of structural calculations for steel construction and strength of materials is required. The ability to properly read and understand industrial drawings is necessary for this internship.

The intern shall demonstrate autonomy, dynamism, precision and, most importantly, creativity to propose solutions that bring significant benefits.
