This position reports to
R&D Global Unit Lead
Your role and responsibilities
In this fascinating role, you will manage a chapter of electromechanical engineer tasked to maintain and develop low voltage products such as breakers, switches and fusegear. As Chapter Leader, you will be responsible to share best practices & know-how and develop standards & guidelines on how to create and optimize electromechanical assembly for products in low voltage electrical distribution system. Main design areas are mechanical, thermal and electrical performances Your deep expertise will enable you to develop through continuous coaching, the members of your chapter. The chapter counts on roughly 15-20 chapter's members located in China. Besides your role as Chapter Leader, you will also, based on your expertise, be part of a specific Agile Team. You will be part of the Protection & Switching Agile Unit and ELSP chapter leader global community where you will have the responsibility to look after people development and the overall competence and capabilities of the chapter . In this role you will report directly to the Agile Unit Leader. • Ensure the chapter mission is being delivered. • Act as a coach with deep expertise related to the chapter and ensure that chapter members have appropriate competencies and skills. • Get regularly updates on new developments during alignment meetings on chapter specific topics, both on technical and R&D processes-related topics. • Build competences inside the team on managing R&D activities for the fol-lowing solutions: low voltage breakers, switches, fusegear and enclosures. • Secure competences inside the team on the following R&D processes: de-sign for reliability and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), product op-timization, Quality Wins and any other relevant ABB process for R&D devel-opment and maintenance • Develop the following skills inside the team: 3D design, modelling and simu-lation, tolerance analysis, design of plastic and metal parts. • Conduct performance review of chapter members collecting input from rele-vant stakeholders. • Lead the recruitment process of new chapter members and support appro-priate staffing across agile units in accordance with relevant stakeholders • Standardize methods and processes within the team and chapter's commu-nity.

Qualifications for the role
- More than 5 years of experience in R&D electromechanical development. Ex-perience managing in leading R&D teams is a relevant asset.
- Proven experience in breakers and switches development is mandatory.
- Master's degree in engineering
- Strong consultancy, analytical and communication skills demonstrated in a good servant leadership practice
- Proven stakeholder management ability preferably in a multicultural envi-ronment
- Fluency in English mandatory
