JOB DESCRIPTION: CIVIL/UTILITY CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN (NON-UNION)
SUMMARY: The Civil/Utility Construction Foreman is a working position requiring proficiency in operating heavy equipment within energized substations and power plants. The Foreman will ensure workers are qualified and knowledgeable about their roles, make assignments according to skill sets, and teach/instruct the operator/labor force to ensure continued growth. The person in this position may also issue reports and progress updates and make decisions related to supplier and vendor relationships. A foreman also ensures safe working conditions and compliance with all safe operating procedures specific to the industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (other duties may be required)
• Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans
• Adhere to project schedules and monitor attendance of crew
• Allocate general and daily responsibilities
• Supervise, manage, and train workers and tradespeople
• Work with the Project Manager/Director to ensure manpower and resources are adequate
• Promote and enforce company safety culture and policies, ensuring that all Guido and OSHA safety precaution and quality standards are met
• Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
• Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains with budget
• Resolve problems when they arise
• Establish and maintain site and building control points
• Locate and layout for work; coordinate layout with subcontractors
• Report progress to managers regularly
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum 10+ years' experience working heavy civil/utility construction projects is required. Previous experience working on CPS Energy sitework construction projects preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Understanding of construction procedures, equipment and OSHA guidelines
• Knowledge and ability to read plans, drawings and specifications
• Ability to report and communicate effectively
• Ability to successfully coordinate and lead a team
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Bilingual in Spanish and English is not a requirement, but is preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Minimum Energized Substation Hazard Training, Commercial Driver's License, and OSHA 30-Hour required. CPR, AED & First Aid preferred.
