GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Exciting Opportunity: Lab & Driller Technician
Are you passionate about geotechnical engineering and looking for a dynamic role that combines lab testing and fieldwork? - (Lab) Performs advanced testing, inspection, or data collection, using sophisticated equipment and complex procedures for engineering analysis design
- (Lab) Maintains log of samples received and prepares summaries of the material tested
- (Lab) Assists with workflow planning maintaining Lab accreditation, and supports physical and digital records of all lab equipment
- (Lab) Performs data analysis on various geosynthetics
- (Field) Safely operates drilling and excavation equipment to test and sample earthen materials for geotechnical investigations
- (Field) Maintains and services heavy equipment as required and works in all types of weather conditions and rugged terrain
- (Field) Operates and transports backhoe to dig test pits and collect gravel samples for lab testing

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE:
- Skilled in the use of spreadsheets and database

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Position requires extensive travel within the State, up to 40% of the time
- Outdoor highly variable weather conditions in Wyoming
- Must be safe while working around drill and support equipment
- Work is often conducted on highways adjacent to live traffic
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems with heavy equipment and complex lab testing devices
- Consistently works around overhead and underground utilities
