The Software Platforms & Connectivity Module is a part of the Product Applications & Control Segment in Vestas R&D. The module is focused on developing innovative software platforms, robust communication infrastructure, and advanced cybersecurity solutions. We focus on creating scalable and reliable platforms that support a wide range of applications and services. Our team ensures seamless and secure communication channels, and we implement effective measures to protect against evolving cyber security threats.

The module consists of 155 people based in primarily Porto, Portugal and Aarhus, Denmark.

We are seeking an experienced IO Software Sub-module Owner to coordinate our team in developing and maintaining generic drivers for fieldbus systems and transducers used in wind turbines. The IO layer of our Turbine Software bridges the gap between hardware and application layers. This role is crucial in ensuring that our turbines operate efficiently, contributing to our purpose of advancing renewable energy solutions. You will be coordinating a team of 10 people based in Porto, Portugal and Aarhus, Denmark.

You will be part of the Software Platforms & Connectivity Module Management team together with the Module Design Owner, Module Program Manager and the other Sub-module owners in the module

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in software development, experience with embedded low-level software and a strategic mindset. You have a passion for renewable energy and a commitment to supporting sustainable solutions. Your key responsibilities are the followings:
  • Manage the IO software development team, building a collaborative and innovative work environment
  • People management of a multicultural team with goal setting, designing development plans, coaching, developing, and guiding the team
  • Develop the strategic direction and roadmap for the area
  • Continuously ensuring organizational development ensuring that the area is prepared to handle future requirements and demand towards the sub-module
  • Take full end-to-end accountability of sub-module deliverables
  • Continuously engage with stakeholders to improve collaboration and increase value realization
  • Ensure execution of project commitments in the department and ensure prompt handling of any concerns
  • Guide the continuous improvement of IO software processes and methodologies, ensuring high-quality deliverables


Qualifications

A relevant bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with at least 5 years of professional experience + at least 2 years of team management experience

To thrive within this role, you should be able to contribute with several of the following:
  • Experience in software development, with a focus on embedded low-level Software
  • Team management skills, with experience in software development teams.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Solid communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work smoothly with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Established ability to set strategic direction and drive results.
  • Interacting smoothly with executives and functional peer groups to gain commitment
  • It is beneficial (but not a requirement) to have knowledge of fieldbus systems, transducers, and hardware abstraction layers. Furthermore, experience with continuous regression testing and maintaining test setups is beneficial
  • The ability to collaborate with others outside of own job area on policies, practices, and procedures.
  • You must be fluent English (writing and oral)
