Schedule: Mon-Fri, 40 hours/week (occasional site visits as needed, usually every other week)
The Opportunity:
The Cost Specialist/Engineer for Sustaining Capital will be responsible for developing the overall cost control plan, monitoring and controlling all project cost elements and deviations to ensure the project cost objectives are aligned with the overall project (AFE) objectives. Supervises and provides technical direction for all cost activities for all phases of the assigned projects. Further responsible for the proactive use of owner resources in ensuring effective change management.

Skills & Qualifications:
• Typically, 5 years of related industry experience in Project Cost Control engineering, construction, and brownfield projects within the oil and gas industry;
• Engineering Degree or relevant technical designation;
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills;
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
• Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

The Cost Specialist/Engineer for Sustaining Capital will be responsible for developing the overall cost control plan, monitoring and controlling all project cost elements and deviations to ensure the project cost objectives are aligned with the overall project (AFE) objectives. Supervises and provides technical direction for all cost activities for all phases of the assigned projects. Further responsible for the proactive use of owner resources in ensuring effective change management.
Key Accountabilities:
- Preparation and maintenance of the cost systems and various cost exercises for the projects;
- Consolidate project information and provide accurate information by project (AFE) for Month-End Capital Reporting and feeding into month-end financial processes;
- Monitor, review and analysis of all activities, POs / Contracts for vendors cost planning and progress during all phases of the project, including the analysis of any deviations and corrective plans;
- Review contractor cost and schedule reports and ensure contractor plans are realistic and achievable, in coordination with Construction / Maintenance Teams;
- Analyze progress, manpower and performance information to support effective project management;
- Aptitude for understanding technical documents related to engineering and construction to ensure project estimates and budgets remain current and change management supports project objectives;
- Work closely with Project Lead, Facility Engineers, Project Engineers, Construction Coordinators and Maintenance Coordinators to ensure proactive direction is given to the contractor and reporting of deviations proactively to affected stakeholder.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Typically, 5 years of related industry experience in Project Cost Control engineering, construction, and brownfield projects within the oil and gas industry;
• Engineering Degree or relevant technical designation;
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
- Procedures, processes development and project management principles;
- Project Schedule interpretation, manpower ramps usage for building cost trends;
- Industry specific applications (Prism, Maximo, MS Office);
- Estimating and Quantity Surveying experience would be an asset;
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills;
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
• Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
