Position Title:               Senior Management Accountant - Business Improvement Analyst

Location:                        Brisbane CBD travel to mine site as required 
Type:                                Permanent – Fulltime Opportunity
Job Overview:             The position is part of the Finance Department, based in the Brisbane CBD
This role provides close support to the site management, and as such requires regular travel to the rural Queensland Mine.
 
This is a cross functional commercial role working intimately with both the Finance Department and Site management, to generate and analyse commercial information that support operational decision making by the mine site managers; and performance reporting and forecasting for the Group Executive, Board and Joint Ventures.
 
Reporting to:               Financial Controller.

Supporting:                  Commercial Manager

Functional Partners:       Finance Department;   Mine Site, Senior Leadership Team;  Group Business Development Team;   Group IT; Group Marketing & Logistics Team
                                             
Accountabilities
 
  • Coordinating the work between the Finance Department and the Mine Senior Leadership Team for the provision of timely information / metrics / analysis that informs commercially based decision making and business improvement by Site management. This will require:
  • Understanding and communicating the information / metrics that best support Site leadership team;
  • Working with Finance, Site leadership team and IT stakeholders to generate and maintain reporting tools that best convey financial and commercial information / metrics and to continually improve the accuracy, utility and timeliness of the reporting tools.
  • Providing commercial analysis of the operational / financial outcomes and convey the analysis to Site and Corporate leadership teams as part of a regular feedback routine, including analysis of variations to plans, in order to optimise site efficiency and support leaders in decision making.
  • Providing coaching as required on any new finance systems and processes introduced that will impact relevant stakeholders.
  • Co-ordinating the site monthly operational and capital reforecasting process, for input into the monthly forecasting for the Group Executive, Board and Joint Ventures.
  • Support the Site leadership team with developing CAPEX and OPEX business cases
  • Assisting site management with the development of financial modelling and business cases for site projects and procurement.
  • Other accountabilities of this role include:
  • Supporting both Site and Corporate stakeholders to annually develop costed 5 year operating and capital plans and 12 month operating and capital Budgets including relevant analysis and presentations.
  • Supporting the Finance team with producing financial commentaries that are used in monthly and quarterly reporting packs for the Board and Joint Ventures.
  • Representing Finance on Site steering committees, when appropriate.
  • Supporting the Finance Department in appropriate ad hoc financial tasks, as required.

Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Commerce
