We are looking for an Apprentice to join our London-based Underwriting team.
The OpportunityOur Apprenticeship Program is the perfect opportunity to start your career with a global company in the dynamic and thriving insurance industry.Starting in September 2025, our Underwriting Apprentice program will allow you to develop a range of skills while spending two years working in one of our Underwriting teams. In addition to on-the-job development, you'll spend 20% of your time participating in a Level 4 Insurance Specialist apprenticeship which will enable you to apply for your Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to embark on a career as an Underwriter and will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and behaviors for success.
Your TeamOur team is committed to underwriting Natural Resources and energy risks on a global scale, managing a diverse range of sectors within the energy industry. We are organized into four key sub-lines of business: Downstream Energy (covering Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, LNG, Midstream, etc.), Conventional Power, Renewables, and Mining. Each sub-LOB brings its unique challenges and opportunities, allowing us to provide specialized solutions for clients worldwide. Working collaboratively, we combine expert knowledge and innovative approaches to manage and mitigate the risks associated with the ever-evolving global energy market.
Some of your specific responsibilities during apprenticeship could include:
• You will support the underwriters by assisting with internal underwriting processes, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
• You will develop a deeper understanding of the Energy sector, learning about the unique risks and challenges that come with underwriting in this field.
• You will attend client meetings with underwriters, gaining firsthand experience in communicating with clients and brokers and understanding their needs.
• You will learn the basics of underwriting in the Energy sector, including the key factors that influence decisions and pricing in this complex market.
• You will assist with ESRA Sanctions checks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and helping to identify any potential risks.
• You will support ESG referrals, learning about Environmental, Social, and Governance factors and how they impact underwriting decisions in the energy industry.
Eligibility
• This position is designed for, and ideally suited to, school leavers holding 3 A-levels (or equivalent). Those with a higher level of qualification, such as a bachelor's degree, are advised to apply to one of our other early careers programs or direct entry roles: Allianz Careers
• You must have achieved Level 2 in English and Math (equivalent to GCSE grade 9-4/ AC)
• To comply with the apprenticeship eligibility rules, at the start of the apprenticeship, you must be aged 18 or over, living in England, not in full-time education, and have the right to work in the UK.

Further Information:
• The role is fixed term for 24 months, but we expect well-performing candidates to be converted into a permanent role before the end of this term.
• We offer a generous study package with approximately 1 day a week dedicated to study
• This apprenticeship will commence in September 2025.
