Paradigm Enterprises, a Babcock Power company, is looking to hire a Safety Manager. From electric co-op and municipal substations to industrial wind projects, we work with our industry partners to create a reliable supply of electrical power for their customers.
The Safety Manager plays a key role in supporting the development, implementation, and execution of the Paradigm Safety Program. This position focuses on ensuring safety compliance across various projects, standardizing safety procedures and documentation, and fostering a culture of safety through training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Safety Manager will work closely with site personnel to maintain a safe working environment while adhering to industry regulations and company policies.

Base Pay Range: $95,000 - $105,000

The Safety Manager plays a key role in supporting the development, implementation, and execution of the Paradigm Safety Program. This position focuses on ensuring safety compliance across various projects, standardizing safety procedures and documentation, and fostering a culture of safety through training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Safety Manager will work closely with site personnel to maintain a safe working environment while adhering to industry regulations and company policies.
Safety Procedure Development & Management:
- Assist Project Services in creating and refining safety procedures, including specific guidelines for civil, electrical, and other disciplines, as well as site-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
- Ensure safety procedures are aligned with industry standards and continuously updated to reflect evolving safety requirements.
Standardization of Safety Documentation:
- Manage the standardization of all training materials and safety documentation, including forms for Confined Spaces (C/S), Hot Work, and Inspections, and make them easily accessible on SharePoint.
- Update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) annually and ensure they are readily available via SharePoint
Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) Development:
- Develop and implement Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for various tasks, utilizing standard templates and incorporating task-specific visuals to enhance clarity and worker understanding.
- Ensure that JHA documents are available and accessible on SharePoint for easy reference by all site personnel.
Project Safety Oversight:
- Manage safety operations for projects, ensuring that safety practices are implemented and maintained consistently across sites.
- Conduct regular site visits and audits to assess safety performance, identify potential hazards, and address any emerging safety concerns.
Safety Training & Certification:
- Train, trend, and track the Safety Observation, Tracking, and Action Program (SOTAP) to ensure active participation and promote a proactive safety culture.
- Assist in organizing annual safety forums, Safety Committee meetings, and first aid/CPR training sessions.
- Pursue professional safety certifications such as ASP and CSP to maintain current knowledge of safety practices and regulations and OSHA 30-hour, First Aid, and CPR.
ANSI Committee Participation:
- Serve as an alternate representative at ANSI Z 359 Committee meetings, providing input and staying updated on new safety standards and regulations related to fall protection.
Safety Audits & Incentive Program:
- Visit and audit job sites to identify training needs and areas for improvement in safety compliance.
- Collaborate with the Safety Director to design and implement a cost-effective safety incentive program tailored to different project sites to enhance overall safety culture.
RFQ/RFP Review:
- Review safety sections in Request for Quotation (RFQ) and Request for Proposal (RFP) documents, providing recommendations that align with Paradigms best interests while maintaining safety compliance.
User-Friendly Document Management:
- Update and organize safety documents on SharePoint, ensuring they are formatted in a user-friendly manner for non-technical staff.
- Ensure that all safety-related resources are easily accessible and comprehensible to promote compliance and ease of use.
Job Start Safety Packets:
- Compile and distribute job start safety packets, including all necessary documentation such as site-specific plans, signage needs, and safety layouts for job books.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
- Seven plus years of safety management experience in construction or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing safety programs for large-scale projects.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to lead and train teams on safety practices and protocols.
- Strong organizational skills with a focus on document management and process standardization.
