Job Purpose
The Solar Resource Analyst will work as part of a small team to provide organizational and technical support for the development of large solar energy projects. The analyst will be responsible for managing solar resource workflows and undertaking energy production modeling to ensure development projects and potential acquisitions meet technical and financial requirements while maintaining our long-term ownership focus. The position requires experience with solar resource evaluation and utility scale energy modeling, as well as the ability to manage complex and time sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment while communicating effectively. Periodic travel required. Preference is to work out of the SF or Boston office but will consider remote candidates.

Responsibilities
- Optimize solar energy production for planned projects.
- Organize and maintain spreadsheet budgets, timelines and workflows in MS excel.
- Support contracting and financing activities for utility-scale solar projects.
- Review M&A assets to ensure they meet technical and financial requirements.
- Support project development solar monitoring station deployments and data collection.
- Keep current on latest technologies and advise on best technology for specific sites.
- Evaluate and select appropriate solar resource datasets.
- Manage consultants and Independent Engineers to evaluate solar resource and generation estimates
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Engineering Degree or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant technical experience in solar resource/energy prediction.
- Minimum 2 years using PVSYST energy prediction software
- Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook applications.
- Understanding of solar plant design, standard equipment, and system losses.
- Understanding of solar resource fundamentals and solar monitoring instrumentation
- Experience using satellite datasets such as Solar Anywhere and Solar GIS.
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to clearly communicate ideas to non-engineers.
Desires/Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Engineering Degree or a related field.
- Experience with GIS and/or AutoCad software
- Knowledge of uncertainty calculations associated with energy production estimates.
- Experience with Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) analysis
- Abreast of current technology trends of solar modules, inverters and tracking systems.
- Experience supporting operational assessments including modeled vs actual energy production analysis.
- Characteristics Necessary for Success:
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and manage technical projects, including interaction with outside vendors and consultants.
- Highly organized, able to multitask and manage multiple projects efficiently
- Problem-solver with an ability to work collaboratively with people who work remote
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and drawings.
