We are looking for a Senior Tax Manager join our team in our Houston, Texas office on a permanent basis to support activities in North and Central America.

Reporting to the Tax Director - North West & Corporate, based in Sutton, UK, the qualified candidate will have an important part in supporting the tender, project and reporting teams. Although the role does not have any direct reports, there is dotted line into the local US tax team.

While a significant part of the role is projects and operations focussed, it does also require the successful candidate to ensure and give assurance that the activities of the relevant entities are appropriately reported in line with internal policy and local tax law. Base Erosion Anti-Avoidance Tax Planning and Reporting, regional re-organisations and financing, withholding tax management and transfer pricing, all fall under the remit of this role.

In addition to significant international corporate tax experience, the ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently to manage and implement projects and will have a desire to challenge and improve existing ways of working.

What will you be doing?

Preferred Experience and Education
  • Recommending relevant operating structures for and tax strategy of projects in the region.
  • Supporting relevant teams on technical analysis and WHT management.
  • Maintaining and updating the Group's Base Erosion Anti-Avoidance Tax model.
  • Ensure compliance obligations for all relevant jurisdictions are met, and that taxes are appropriately reported, with opportunities for identified efficiencies proactively pursued.
  • Monitor funding positions and support the identification and project management of distributions and recapitalisations.
  • Manage local reorganisations, acquisitions and disposals (as required), and ensure resulting tax compliance obligations are met.
  • Drive Group level initiatives as they relate to e.g., transfer pricing, M&A, and funding initiatives.


What experience would we like you to have?

Preferred Experience and Education
  • Accountancy Degree or chartered accountancy qualification (CA / ACA)
  • Chartered tax adviser (CTA), international equivalent or tax training obtained within 'Big 4' accounting firm environment.
  • Relevant previous international corporate tax experience, with demonstrable experience of US inbound tax.
  • Good numeric skills; experience of modelling beneficial.
  • Ideally some knowledge of indirect and personal taxes.

  • Deep understanding of international tax principles.
  • Organisational skills and practical approach to delivering projects.
  • Ability to make judgement calls and influence without direct authority.
  • Good communication skills: Fluency in English required, Spanish language skills beneficial.
